Former HP CM Shanta Kumar’s health deteriorates, shifted to Mohali

A day after his wife Shailja Sharma died of COVID-19 at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, in Kangra district, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar was shifted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali near Chandigarh on Wednesday morning.
Shanta Kumar and his son, Bikram Sharma, had also tested positive for COVID-19 and were hospitalised in Tanda Medical College. They had both moved to Palampur from Tanda after the death of Shailja Sharma on Tuesday.
Sources revealed that Shanta Kumar's health deteriorated following which he along with his son was shifted to Mohali on Wednesday at about 10 am.
Senior Medical Officer, Kangra, Dr. Gurdarshan Singh said that Shanta Kumar reported mild fever early on Wednesday morning though he is stable. The veteran BJP leader, on his wish, has been shifted to Mohali for better healthcare.

The authorities had tried to shift Shailja Sharma to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, but she suffered a cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning.
Besides Shanta Kumar, four other members of his family, his personal secretary, security officer and driver also tested positive for COVID-19.
