A police constable in Vadodara, Gujarat was attacked by some men on Saturday allegedly for being a Muslim. First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case. In the FIR, the 44 -year old police constable has alleged that the men assaulted him because is a Muslim.

The police constable has been identified as Arif Ismail Shaikh. The scuffle broke out between the men and the police constable when he was going back home after his duty hours were over. On his way home, these men abused him and assaulted him.


According to a report in India Today, Arif Ismail Shaikh said that he was attacked when he was in his uniform. He also alleged that the men insulted him for his religion and started beating him up.

Arif alleged that they also threatened to kill him. So far, three people have been arrested in connection with the case.
