Police are probing the antecedents of large hoarding with a threat printed on it erected near the busy SP College junction here, officials said on Monday.

The poster showed a picture of an unidentified boy with AIMIM chief Asasuddin Owaisi and a couple of others standing behind him and an ominous threat,in large black, green and red letters, reading: "Jisko Chahiye Pakistan, Usko Bhejo Kabristan (Those who want Pakistan, Send them to Graveyard)", shocking many pedestrians and locals who noticed it.

Soon pictures of the poster went viral on social media with demanding stringent action against those who dared to put it up on Saturday at a prominent public place.

Indignant Twitter user Nikhil Pawar asked: "In a metro city like Pune, such a poster talking of 'Kabristan' has come upa Are we living in a Talibani state? Don't allow this poison to spread in Maharashtra."

He tagged Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others in his post.

Taking cognizance of the social media outrage, the Pune police swung into action and removed the poster, while efforts are on to trace the individuals or organisation behind it, said an official.
