The national general secretary of National Students Union of India (NSUI) Nagesh Kariyappa has filed a ‘missing person’ complaint with the Delhi Police with regard to Union Home Minister Amit Anil Chandra Shah.

Kariyappa said that when the country is suffering from a deadly pandemic and the citizens of the country are in crisis, it is the duty of politicians to be accountable to the whole country and not only towards the BJP-led government.

National secretary and in-charge of media and communications, Lokesh Chugh said that until 2013, politicians were responsible towards the citizens but after when the BJP came to power at the Centre, the dynamics have totally changed and now the second most important minister is ‘missing’ amidst the pandemic.

“When people need the government to take care of them, its main post holders have missing from their post and their work,” Kariyappa said.

Kariyappa also questioned Shah, “Are you the Home Minister of the country or of only the BJP party?”

“We all are suffering from this disastrous pandemic and we need the government to support the citizens and be answerable for their deeds. The current government has failed to do so and thus the NSUI filed a ‘missing person’ complaint. We are waiting for the government to present us with the answers and to address the nation,” read a statement issued by the NSUI.
