Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP and home minister Amit Shah, saying that instead of booking farmer leaders, home minister Amit Shah should be sacked for the violence that took place on Republic Day.

“This is the second time in less than a year that under Shri Amit Shah’s leadership national capital of Delhi has been pushed to the brink of unabated, unchecked, uncontrolled violence. Did Shri Amit Shah and Intelligence Agencies not know about the open declaration over the last 24 - 48 hours by these violent and anti social elements, who segregated themselves from the farmers and expressed their desire that they are going to, go up to the Red Fort, what was Shri Amit Shah doing? Was he sleeping? What were the Intelligence Agencies doing? Were they sleeping?” Surjewala asked.

Calling it a conspiracy to malign farmers and discredit them, the Congress spokesperson in response to a question further said, “the facts have unfolded over last 24 hours, a concerted conspiracy, aided and abetted by Modi Government took place to malign the entire farmers’ movement. A set of people with premeditated motive of violence, who have nothing to do with the ‘Samyukt Kisan Morcha’, they were permitted to enter the premises, the sanctum sanctorum of the Red Fort, the pride of India, climb on to its columns and put a flag there, this is a sacrilege. This is unacceptable and those who did it, Deep Sidhu and Gang, they have been seen in the past cohabiting with Prime Minister of India and Home Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and Shri Amit Shah, ample evidence of which is now available in public domain. Instead of arresting them, then and there, they were permitted to go back.”

First the Delhi police remained a mute spectator when 500-600 people entered the Red Fort and later instead of booking those people, arresting those people, the Delhi Police is actually registering false cases against the leaders of the ‘Sanyukt Kisan Morcha’. It is a huge, colossal security lapse and intelligence failure on the part of none less than the Home Minster of India, Shri Amit Shah, he further said.

The Congress leader said that the ruling BJP is employing all its strategies to suppress farmers’ voices. “The first policy was ‘Pratadit Karo aur Parast Karo- Hit them, Torment them and Defeat them’. When they failed in their lathi charge and brutal behaviour and then despite 174 odd farmers dying, they went to their policy number two- they held as many as 10 fruitless discussions over a period of 63 days, Meeting- Meeting- Meeting, hold meetings and tire them out, tire them out and push them out that was the second policy. When that policy also failed, then they wanted to divide the farmers and finish the movement that was their third policy. And their final conspiracy is, declare the farmers and farm labourers as anarchists, malign them and throw them out.” Randeep Singh Surjewala said.
