Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday spoke about the migrant crisis in Uttar Pradesh. She shared some details of the developments over the Congress offering buses to help migrant workers reach home saying that the important thing is that the buses provided by the Congress are standing there and should be used to help people reach their native villages.

She said, “We'll have to understand our responsibilities. They (migrant labourers walking to return to their native states) aren't just Indians but India's spinal cord. The country runs on their blood and sweat. It's everyone's responsibility to help them reach safely. It's not the time for politics.”

“At 4 PM it will be 24 hours since the buses were made available. If you want to use it, do it. Give us permission. If you want to use BJP party flags and stickers on buses then do it. If you want to say that you made those buses available, do it. But let the buses run: Put a BJP flag on buses if you want to, but use these buses, said Priyanka Gandhi to UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

It is important to note here that the Congress general secretary has been constantly writing to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requesting him for permission to ply buses to transport migrant workers stranded at UP borders.

The Yogi government first refused then permitted then alleged that the list provided by the Congress had details of two wheelers and cars. When the UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu staged a dharna protesting the dilly dallying attitude of the government, he was detained on Tuesday evening and an FIR was filed against him.
