Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and the chief of the Intelligence Bureau on Monday afternoon to discuss the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, where restrictions are being eased in phases.

Heavy security was deployed across the state two weeks ago, ahead of Modi government's announcement of abrogation of Article 370 and plans to bifurcate it into two Union Territories.

Central government has called the security deployment and black out of communication channels preventive measures.

On Monday, a section of schools and all government offices opened in Srinagar.

Officials claim that two-thirds landlines have been restored in the Kashmir Valley and mobile internet services will be back after a review of the security situation.

Scores of politicians, including former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who were detained, are still in custody.
