The family of a youth who was shot dead by security men after he allegedly rammed his XUV into former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah's residence, has demanded to see the CCTV footage of the incident.

Murfad Hussain Shah, 26, breached the outer security ring at Farooq Abdullah's Bhatindi area residence in Jammu around 9 a.m.

Demanding a fair probe, the shell-shocked family alleged foul-play, claiming that the youth was first killed by the security forces and then taken inside the former CM’s residence to create an alibi.

The family, which originally belongs to Mendhar tehsil of the border district of Poonch, currently lives in Chinore, where residents and relatives of the deceased youth held a demonstration this afternoon.

“He was with me last night. He goes to the gym daily and left for there today. I want to know why was he killed,” Shah’s father, who runs a gun shop at Bantalab in Jammu said, lamenting, “Where were the security guards when he breached the gate? Why didn't they arrest him?”

Pertinently, only four persons in Jammu and Kashmir including Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar, besides Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mehbooba Mufti, all former chief ministers, enjoy Z+ security cover.

According to security forces, the man rammed his car into former CM, Lok Sabha MP and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah’s Jammu residence, which is also shared by his son Omar Abdullah, and then he got into a scuffle with the CRPF jawan at the gate. The Central Reserve Police Force guards the former CM’s residence. The forces said he left the jawan injured and forced his entry into the house, where he ransacked several articles before being gunned down. Police said they haven’t recovered any weapon from the site and the motive behind his alleged forced entry into the home is not clear as of now.

“There was an attempt of forceful entry into the house (Farooq Abdullah's). He forced his way through the VIP gate in an SUV. He was unarmed and investigation is underway,” SD Singh Jamwal IG, Jammu Zone was quoted as saying by ANI.

The CRPF said the man did not listen to the warning. “He didn’t listen to warnings of CRPF. Section of 38 BN CRPF manning the gate opened fire on the vehicle. Man's body recovered and search of vehicle going on. 1 CRPF personnel received minor injuries,” CRPF said.
