In another horrific incident of crime against women in Uttar Pradesh, a woman was brutally beaten in Kanpur allegedly by her teen daughter’s molesters. She later died at a hospital in Kanpur on January 17, 2019, a week after the family of the woman and her daughter were assaulted at their home in the city by the same men who had managed to get bail in the original molestation case.

A case of molestation of a minor girl was registered in 2018 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Abid, Mintu, Mahboob, Chaand Babu, Jameel and Firoz all accused in the molestation case were arrested in 2018 but all of them got bail from a local court, according to an NDTV report.

The men barged into the home of the minor girl last Thursday and asked the family to withdraw the case. When they refused to do so, they were badly thrashed. The girl's mother and another woman relative were both subsequently admitted to a city hospital, police explained to NDTV.

A five-second video shot from the terrace of the family's home last Thursday went viral. it is not clear by whom the video was taken but it shows a woman in a red kurta lying on the ground as a man dressed in a white kurta and trousers kicks her face.

Other visuals from the video shot last Thursday show the family in a Kanpur hospital with policemen surrounding them.

"Prima facie I would not say the policemen at the local thana were negligent, but if were are given such a complaint, we will investigate that too," said Anant Deo, Kanpur's police chief, according to the NDTV report.

Four men were allegedly responsible for the assault on the girl and her family. One of them was arrested after a police encounter. The cops say they are still looking out for three other accused.
