Veteran Congress leader Kapil Sibal on December 8 slammed Modi government for Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raids on locations connected to Robert Vadra’s close associates. “ What kind of govt is it? If law enforcement agencies start hooliganism then who will question them? If they're supported by PM, who'll question it? Where is the law & order in the country?” he questioned addressing a press conference in Delhi.

The senior Congress leader strongly objected to the ED officials’ move to break into the premises when they were asked to wait for the keys. “ There was no FIR, ECIR against Vadra Ji and people of Enforcement Directorate reached his offices without any warrant. They don't say their names and when asked to wait by the people in the office to get keys to the office, they broke into the office,” he said.

Hinting at the possible panic in the Modi government after the exit polls of the five state assembly elections came out, Kapil Sibal said, “ The people in power especially PM is thinking that the exit polls are right and are scared. People in opposition are being targetted by sending IT, ED. I want to ask Modi Ji rather blame him why such things are happening in his rule.”

Kapil Sibal lashed out at ED and the Modi government saying, “there is no FIR against Robert Vadra. Officers just come and without any intimation start raiding. Does ED investigate without any law?”

He pointed out that never in the history of India he has heard that people without identifying themselves, without any warrants just walk into their houses and break the almirahs and cabinets in the offices. “People are getting arrested without any warrant”, he said.

Kapil Sibal accused Modi of executing the raids saying, “The government is falsely implicating. Is this the change Modi wanted?”

"This is happening against Vadra, in Andra Pradesh, West Bengal, Haryana that you misuse your investigation agencies and then boast about it. You are no one to do this, there is a law and a system in this country. On one hand the Supreme Court is speaking of right to privacy and here they are taking people's phones and are being intimidated.Four employees were detained and were left at 4:30 early in the morning. One of the employees, Surinder was beaten up and was made to sign on a blank paper,” he added.

Kapil Sibal went on to say that the entire exercise of raid looked like they (ED officials) wanted to plant the evidence since they could not find any evidence against Vadra in four and a half years of the government. “ They just want to divert attention from the elections. What's happening inside is the planting and manufacturing of evidence,” he said.

On December 7 a team of ED officials raided Skylight hospitality, Robert Vadra’s office in Sukhdev Vihar, Delhi for the commissions received by the accused in defense deals. Vadra’s counsel charged Enforcement Directorate of hounding his client and fabricating false evidence and diverting attention from the recently held assembly elections in five states.

Meanwhile, Congress worker Jagdish Sharma was released by Enforcement Directorate (ED). He was detained by ED this morning. As quoted by the news agency ANI Jagdish Sharma said, "ED is pressurising me to name Robert Vadra."
