Singhu border peaceful, internet suspended due to ‘chakka jaam’
Amid the continuing deadlock between the Centre and farmer unions and a countrywide 'chakka jaam' (road block) called by agitating farmers, the situation at Singhu border protest site in Delhi was peaceful even as internet connectivity was suspended as a precautionary measure on Saturday.
A senior Delhi Police official told IANS, "The situation is peaceful here, however, security has been tightened. No one is allow to enter towards the protest site."
In view of security, Delhi Police have put up barricades around one-and-half km (at Singhola village) away from the protest site. A second line of barricades has been put up 500 metres further. More barricades have been put up 300 metres from the protest site at Singhu border.
Mobile internet connectivity has been snapped in the border areas. Media personnel are also not allowed to enter the protest site.

Two dead after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Bihar
Two people have died and one fallen seriously ill after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Bihar's Kaimur district, police said on Saturday.
As per preliminary reports, some residents of Kurasan village in Kaimur district consumed liquor on Thursday evening following which three people were admitted to a nearby hospital after they had complained of uneasiness. Later, two of them died and one is still under treatment.
Bhabua Nagar police station in-charge Ramanand Mandal confirmed that two people died and one hospitalised after drinking suspected spurious liquor in Kaimur district.

Farmers call for ‘Chakka jam’ today, Delhi Police tightens security at border points
After the Republic Day violence, the Delhi Police has deployed additional measures, including tightening security and intensifying vigil at the city's border points, to deal with any situation emerging out of the proposed 'chakka jam' on Saturday by farmers protesting the Centre's new farm laws, officials said.
Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava also held a meeting with senior officers of the force and reviewed the security arrangements on Friday.
The police will also be monitoring content on the social media to keep a watch on those spreading rumours against the force, officials said.
After the violence on January 26 that had left over 500 security personnel injured and one protestor dead, Shrivastava had accused the protesting farmer union leaders of betrayal and breaching the agreement as thousands of peasants deviated from their pre-decided routes for the tractor parade.
