MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday said that the issue of extradition of economic offenders was discussed in the India-UK summit on May 4.
"The UK conveyed that there are some legal hurdles because of nature of criminal justice system in the country but they are aware of the issue and will help them extradite at the earliest," the MEA spokesperson said.

12 killed in Peru bus accident
At least 12 people were killed after a bus skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine on a highway in Peru's Pataz province.
The accident occurred in an area known as the "Devil's Balcony", as the vehicle, owned by the Turismo Rosita company, was covering the Trujillo-Pataz route in the highlands of the region, reports Xinhua news agency.

With 34.7 and 42.7 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature, twin capitals, Srinagar and Jammu experienced the hottest day of the season on Wednesday as the meteorological (MET) department forecast light rain on Friday and Saturday.
An official of the MET department said, "Srinagar and Jammu witnessed the hottest day of this season so far as the maximum temperature rose to 34.7 and 42.7 in these cities respectively yesterday.
"We are expecting a wet spell for two days beginning on Friday".

Johnson, Biden to hold first in-person meeting
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and US President Joe Biden will meet in-person for the first time on Thursday in Cornwall, ahead of the UK-hosted G7 Leaders' Summit starting on Friday.
The leaders are expected to agree to a new Atlantic Charter , modelled on the historic joint statement made by Prime Minister Winston Churchill and President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1941 setting out their goals for the post-war world, Downing Street said.
The original Atlantic Charter included landmark agreements, leading directly to the creation of the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). '

Mizoram reports record 347 new COVID-19 cases, tally at 14,534
Mizoram on Thursday registered its highest single-day spike of 347 fresh COVID-19 cases, which took the tally in the state to 14,534, an official said.
Of the new cases, 246 were reported from Aizawl district, followed by 50 from Kolasib, 31 from Lawngtlai and 12 from Lunglei.
The remaining cases were recorded in several other districts.
As many as 81 children are among the new patients, the official said.
Israeli strikes kill 11 military personnel in Syria
Israeli strikes targeting areas in central and southern Syria overnight killed 11 military personnel, a war monitor reported.
An officer was among the victims as the strikes on Wednesday targeted a scientific research centre and other military positions in Homs province and the countryside of the capital Damascus, reports Xinhua mews agency.
4 killed in UP road accident
An Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus coming from Kanpur on Thursday hit a stationary canter on the Chalesar flyover, on the Firozabad road, resulting in four deaths and serious injuries to a dozen others.
Police said the canter loaded with water melons was parked on the side of the road for repairs.
The injured were shifted to the emergency ward of the SN Medical College.
Two men and two women died on the spot.
The condition of a few injured passengers was described as serious.
Most passengers were sleeping at the time of the accident.
Asian Games gold-winning former boxer Dingko Singh dies
Asian Games gold medal-winning former boxer Dingko Singh died on Thursday after a long battle with liver cancer.
He was 42 and had been fighting the disease since 2017.
"I'm deeply saddened by the demise of Shri Dingko Singh. One of the finest boxers India has ever produced, Dinko's gold medal at 1998 Bangkok Asian Games sparked the Boxing chain reaction in India. I extend my sincere condolences to the bereaved family. RIP Dinko," Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted.
The Manipur-based former boxer endured a long battle with cancer and even fought COVID-19 last year.
Five held for molesting minor girl in sugarcane field in UP
Five persons, accused of molesting a minor girl in a sugarcane field, have been arrested after a video of the incident went viral on the social media.
The five accused were arrested on Wednesday.
The incident reportedly took place about ten days ago at Khairahi village of the district in Uttar Pradesh.
The minor girl had gone to a sugarcane field with her friend for defecation.

The overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 174.3 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.75 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
In its latest update on Thursday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 174,311,218 and 3,754,914, respectively.
