The police on Wednesday denied that any mob attack took place on the Tanishq showroom in Gandhidham, and whatever news about the jewellery showroom being vandalised was being spread on social media was just a rumour.
Informing the media Mayur Patil, the Kutch East SP said, "Following the Tanishq Jewellery advertisement on TV, there was some controversy over the issue. Following that, some Hindu community leaders gathered and met the Tanishq jewellery showroom officials in Gandhidham and had a discussion with the manager of the showroom. After that, an apology letter was placed by the store on display, apologizing for hurting anybody's sentiments regarding the video. But some elements spread rumours that the Tanishq showroom was vandalised by mobs and it went viral on social media. But there is no merit in it. We have discussed this with the showroom manager and he said that the company has withdrawn that advertisement and also placed an apology letter on display in the showroom."
IPL betting racket busted, 5 arrested with Rs 28L
The Delhi Police have arrested five persons for betting on an IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad from Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi.
A total of Rs 28,55,000 lakh, 12 cellphones and two laptops have been recovered from their possession.
There were inputs on Tuesday that a betting module on IPL matches was being operated from the East District, following which a team was constituted.
It was learnt that one Shah Kamal was the mastermind of the betting racket.
APSRTC to operate 2,028 special buses for Dussehra
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transportation Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 2,028 special buses in the coming Dussehra festival.
"The special buses will cover various destinations in Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Karnataka," APSRTC Operations Executive Director Brahmananda Reddy told IANS.
However, no buses will be run to Chennai, Puducherry, and Telangana.
He said the status quo on bus services to and from Telangana continues.
Shut all 11 thermal power plants in NCR: Delhi govt tells Centre
The Delhi government on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Centre to urge it to shut down all 11 thermal power plants in the National Capital Region (NCR) in the backdrop of increasing pollution levels.
Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain wrote the letter to Union Power Minister RK Singh on the issue.
Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, Jain asserted that these plants were the biggest contributors to the Delhi pollution.
He also said that the Kejriwal government was the only one in the states which had shut down all its three thermal power plants.
Jain also noted in his letter that the Delhi government had shown the path by shutting down its own power plants.

Two minors among 10 new COVID-19 cases in Mizoram
At least 10 more people, including two minors, tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram on Wednesday, taking the state's tally to 2,212, a health department official said.
Of the fresh cases, seven were reported from Aizawl and one each from Champhai, Lawngtlai and Kolasib districts.
"Two minors, aged 5 and 10, are among the new coronavirus patients," the official said.

Global COVID-19 cases surpass 38 million
Global COVID-19 cases have surpassed 38 million, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
The global case count on Tuesday reached 38,006,121, with a total of 1,083,875 deaths worldwide, the CSSE data showed, Xinhua news agency reported.
The US reported 7,850,829 cases and 215,775 deaths, both the highest around the world.
With 7,175,880 cases, India ranked second worldwide. Brazil recorded the world's third largest caseload of 5,103,408 and second largest death toll of 150,689.
The total caseload of the top three countries combined accounted for more than half of the global cases, according to the tally.
Countries with more than 820,000 cases also include Russia, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Peru, and Mexico, while other countries with over 36,000 deaths include India, Mexico, Britain and Italy, according to the center.
