Kerala reports 6,394 Covid cases, 25 deaths
A total of 6,394 people have tested positive for Covid-19 across Kerala on Wednesday, while reports of 5,110 samples returned negative, according to a statement issued by the office of state health minister KK Shailaja.
As many as 65,057 people are under treatment in the state as on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 25 people have succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours, taking the state's death toll to 3,209. The test positivity rate in Kerala is 10.01 per cent at present.
With 1,068 cases, Ernakulam led the Covid tally on Wednesday while Kasargod reported the least number of cases at 77.

73 detected to have new UK COVID mutant strain, says Health Ministry
The Central government on Wednesday said that a total of 73 persons have been detected with the new "more transmissible" UK coronavirus mutant strain, and they are being kept in physical isolation in health facilities.
Out of these total cases, eight have been detected by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Delhi, 20 at the CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) in Delhi, and 11 at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bangaluru.
Engineer killed in Muzaffarpur
An engineer was allegedly killed by unknown persons in Muzaffarpur in Bihar.
According to the local police, the incident took place on Tuesday evening when the accused tied the hands and legs of the B Tech graduate before hanging him in his own house, attempting to make the crime look like a suicide.
City SP Rajesh Kumar said: "The circumstantial evidences indicate towards murder. We are taking action on the basis of the statement given by the deceased's father."
