Odisha's COVID-19 tally crossed the 9,000-mark with 469 fresh cases on Sunday, while two more fatalities due to the infection pushed the death toll to 36, a health department official said.
Record 24,850 COVID-19 cases in single day in India
With 24,850 people testing positive for coronavirus infection and 613 succumbing to the disease in a day, the highest so far, India's COVID-19 caseload soared to 6,73,165, while the death toll climbed to 19,268 on Sunday, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
This is the third consecutive day that coronavirus infections have increased by more than 20,000 in the country.
The number of recoveries stands at 4,09,082 while one patient has migrated. There are 2,44,814 active cases of coronavirus infections presently in the country, the updated data at 8 am showed.
"Thus, around 60.77 per cent of patients have recovered so far," an official said.
The total number of confirmed cases include foreigners.

Goa councillor dies of coronavirus infection
A 72-year-old councillor of the Mormugao Municipal Council in Goa died due to COVID-19 in the wee hours on Sunday, a state health department official said.
Pascoal DSouza, who did not belong to any political party, tested positive for coronavirus last month following which he was admitted to Margao-based ESI Hospital, a specially designated facility for COVID-19 patients.
He succumbed to the viral infection on Sunday, the official said.
2 UP Ministers test COVID-19 positive
Two senior ministers in the Yogi Adityanath government have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past few hours.
Uttar Pradesh Minister for Rural Development Rajendra Pratap Singh, popularly known as Moti Singh, his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren have all tested positive for the virus.
The second Minister to test positive is Dharam Singh Saini, who heads the Ayush Ministry.
Blast in J&K's Pulwama district, no casualties reported
A Central Reserve Police Force convoy was once again targeted by militants in J&K's Pulwama area on Sunday, in which a trooper was injured.
"A low intensity #IED blast occurred at #Pulwama. #One CRPF personnel suffered #injuries in his hands and is stable. Senior officers are on the spot. Further details shall follow," the J&K police tweeted.
The low intensity blast of the Improvised Explosive Device was carried out by the suspected terrorists moments after a CRPF convoy passed through Gangoo village in South Kashmir.
The explosion caused panic in the area. Additional security forces have reached the spot that has been cordoned off and a search operation launched.
WHO discontinues hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir trial for COVID-19 treatment
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Saturday that it was discontinuing hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir/ritonavir arms for its Solidarity Trial, citing little or no reduction in the mortality of hospitalised COVID-19 patients.
The WHO said the decision was in light of the evidence from the Solidarity Trial interim results.
"These interim trial results show that hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir/ritonavir produce little or no reduction in the mortality of hospitalized COVID-19 patients when compared to standard of care. Solidarity trial investigators will interrupt the trials with immediate effect," the WHO said in a press release, Xinhua reported.
But the organization said this decision applies only to hospitalized patients and does not affect the possible evaluation in other studies of hydroxychloroquine or lopinavir/ritonavir in non-hospitalised patients or as pre- or post-exposure prophylaxis for COVID-19.
Total shutdown in Odisha's Cuttack city till July 8
The Odisha government on Saturday declared complete shutdown in Cuttack till July 8 amid rising COVID-19 cases.
All non-essential shops will be closed and non- essential travel prohibited, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) said in a notification.
Grocery, vegetable and milk shops can remain open from 5 am to 6 pm, while strictly adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols.
Cuttack's COVID-19 tally surged to 116, including 92 active cases.
Rain, high-velocity winds lash Delhi; more expected
A fresh bout of rain and high-velocity winds lashed the national capital overnight, bringing the mercury down by several notches on Sunday morning.
Light rain and generally cloudy weather is expected during the day.
More rain is expected over the next three to four days, Kuldeep Srivastava, the head of IMD's regional forecasting centre, said.
