Locust invasion warning in Odisha
The Odisha government on Wednesday advised farmers to take preventive measures to save crops from the attack of locusts after the swarms spread to several states.
The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) has issued guidelines to farmers in this regard, informed Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo.
Farmers residing in bordering areas of the state have been asked to remain alert and take immediate preventive steps.
Man crushed to death by speeding truck in west Delhi
A 39-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding truck in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area, police said on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Naveen, a resident of Uttam Nagar, they said.
Last Friday at 5.03 am, police received information regarding an accident. After reaching the spot, the body of the victim was found lying on the road.
Naveen's father Hariraj (65), who called police, said he worked as a vegetable supplier. Around 5 am on Friday, the father-son duo were heading to Azadpur Mandi on a bike, a senior police officer said.

Three drown in reservoir in Rajasthan
Three men drowned while bathing in a reservoir in Rajasthan's Karauli district, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Keshav Gurjar (19), Balkrishna Gurjar (20) and Shyam Singh Gurjar (21), natives of Karauli's Alipura village, they said.
The three men had gone to take a bath in the reservoir in Alipura on Tuesday and drowned one after the other, Station House Officer (SHO), Karauli Sadar police station, Vijay Singh said.
Himachal BJP chief quits, seeks probe into health scam
Himachal Pradesh BJP chief Rajeev Bindal resigned from the post on moral grounds, sought an impartial probe into the last week’s arrest of Health Director for allegedly seeking Rs 5,00,000 bribe.
Bindal denied involvement in the Health Department scam. Former Health Minister and four-time legislator Bindal sent his resignation to BJP president JP Nadda.
In his letter to Nadda, he refuted allegations of involvement in any scam.
An audio, purportedly carrying the voice of Ajay Kumar Gupta, Director of Health Services, demanding the bribe from a supplier, had gone viral on the social media.
Subsequently, Gupta was arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on May 20.
While the opposition Congress has been demanding a CBI probe, Bindal has denied involvement of any BJP leader in the scam.

3 injured in clash after girl gets harassed in UP's Muzaffarnagar
Three people were injured in a clash between two groups allegedly after a girl was harassed by some men in Purkazi town of the district in Muzaffarnagar, police said.
The incident took place on Tuesday, they said.
The clash turned violent when Imran and Shafik from opposing groups came to blows with lathis and sharp weapons also used, police added.
They registered a case of rioting and attempt to murder while another case was filed in connection with the violence.
In a similar incident, two people were injured in a clash between two groups of the same community after a girl was sexually harassed at Kalyanpur village under Khatauli police station area of the district on Tuesday.
