Hizbul chief Syed Salahudin attacked in Islamabad, injured

Unable to carry out Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) diktat of creating unrest in Jammu and Kashmir lately, terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin reportedly faced the ire of his masters when he was attacked by unknown assailants in Islamabad on May 25, sources said on Friday.

Sources in the intelligence agencies said that Mohammad Yusuf Shah alias Syed Salahuddin, who also heads the alliance of pro-Pakistan terrorist groups called the United Jihad Council, was "grievously injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment".

Salahuddin has been declared a global terrorist by the US State Department.

Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur dies

Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur, who penned the famous ''Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye'' and ''Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli" in "Anand", passed away on Friday. He was 77.

Known by his first name in film circles, Yogesh was a prominent lyricist in ''70s Hindi cinema and gave some of his best songs in the middle-of-the-road films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee.

Imbuded with a sense of longing and nostalgia, his lyrics have survived the test of time by staying fresh in the memory of music lovers.

Some of his evergreen hits are "Badi Sooni Sooni Hai", "Maine Kaha Phoolon Se'' from Mukherjee''s "Mili"; "Rajinigandha Phool Tumhare", "Kai Baar Yunhi Dekha Hai" from from "Rajinigandha" and "Na Jaane Kyon Hota Hia Yeh Zindagi Ke Saath" and the quirky "Jaaneman Jaaneman Tere Do Nayan" from "Ek Chhoti Si Baat".

Veteran playback singer Lata Mangeshkar expressed her grief over the death of Gaur.

“I just got to know about the death of Yogesh Ji and I am deeply saddened. He wrote so many heart-warming songs. I have sung many songs written by him. He was a very calm and composed man. I pay my respects to him,” Mangeshkar wrote on Twitter.

MP: 4 killed, 30 injured as vehicle overturns in Barwani

Four persons were killed and 30 injured when their pick-up vehicle overturned in Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, police said.

They were returning from Rosar to Semli village after wedding rituals when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned near Roshan Phate in Pati, Deputy Superintendent of Police Adityaraj Singh said.

"Two people died on the spot, while two died en route to the hospital. Of the 30 injured, the condition of 17 is serious. They are undergoing treatment in Pati and Barwani hospitals," a local health official said.

Two groups clash in Bahraich village, 8 injured

At least six villagers and two policemen were injured in a clash between two groups in a village here, police said on Friday.

Four arrests have been made in connection with the clash between members of different communities in Baragunnu village following a dispute over waste water flowing from a poultry farm.

Since the issue was related to members of different communities, two constables Amit Kumar and Ajit Yadav were sent to resolve the matter, police said.

However, the two were beaten up by villagers.

BEST decides not to charge bus ticket fares from migrants

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) on Friday announced that no ticket fares will be charged from migrant labourers when buses are made available for dropping them at the city railway stations for their journey to their home states.

A BEST spokesperson said that the decision was taken as per the directives of the Supreme Court.

The apex court on Thursday directed that no fare for travel either by trains or buses be charged from the migrant workers stranded across the country, and they be provided food and water.

Maha: Woman stabbed to death in Thane city

A 35-year-old woman was found stabbed to death near a police ground in Rabodi area of Maharashtra's Thane city on Friday, police said.

The victim, identified as Reshma Khatum, was found dead near a police ground on Balkum Road in Rabodi at around 9.30 am, an official said.

The body of the victim, who was a resident of Shivaji Nagar locality, bore multiple stab wounds, the official said.

The police have sent the body to a government hospital for post-mortem and were in the process of registering an offence, he added.

Teenaged girl raped by 3 in UP

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men who also recorded a video of the act at Bhohrahedi village under Bhopa police station in the district, police said Friday.

SHO Sanjive Kumar said the police registered a case against three men who were on the run and added that the girl was sent for medical examination.

According to a complaint lodged with the police by the victim's father, the girl had gone near the fields to relieve herself where the three accused picked her up. She was then raped by them who also recorded a video of the act.

She was has threatened by the accused to face dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. The incident came to light when victim returned to home, the SHO said.

Two AMU students booked for Pro-Pak post on social media

Two students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have been booked by police for allegedly posting "inappropriate content" on social media on the occasion of Eid.
