BCCI suspends Prithvi Shaw for doping charges
144 temporary courtrooms to be built in Delhi
The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for construction of 144 temporary courtrooms in the existing court complexes of Tis Hazari, Saket and Karkardooma at an estimated cost of Rs 178.37 crore.
At a meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the cabinet approved the law department proposal.
"The Special Committee (Infrastructure) of Delhi High Court had in May approved the preliminary architectural plans of construction of temporary courtrooms in existing court complexes of Tis Hazari, Saket and Karkardooma," the government said in a statement.

Normal life came to a standstill here on Tuesday following a 12-hour Silchar bandh called by several organisations to protest against the death of a journalist in a road accident in Assam's Cachar district.

No untoward incident was reported during the bandh which began at 5 am, police said.

Three 'kanwariyas' were killed and seven others injured in a road accident near Hisar in Haryana, police said on Tuesday.
A group of 'kanwariyas' or Shiva devotees were returning from Gangotri in Uttarakhand when a truck crushed them on the Hisar-Chandigarh highway in the wee hours.
The victims were identified as Rahul, Raj Singh and Rohtash, all below 30 years of age. A case has been registered.

The Supreme Court collegium on Tuesday recommended appointment of 16 additional permanent judges to the Allahabad High Court and deferred the recommendation of four additional judges.
The three-member collegium headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that it has considered the views of consultee colleagues (top court judges), the report of Judgement Evaluation Committee, views of the state government and observation of Department of Justice.
The collegium, also comprising Justices S A Bobde and N V Ramana, said there were certain unconfirmed inputs touching upon conduct/behaviour of some of the recommendees.
Delhi HC dismisses doctors' pleas for recognising additional qualification awarded by UK university
The Delhi High Court has dismissed pleas of various medical practitioners to direct the Medical Council of India to recognise their additional qualification acquired from a university in the United Kingdom.
The court said it was not persuaded with the doctors' submissions that the qualification of MD (Clinical) in General Internal Medicine acquired by them from the University of Buckingham be registered in the Indian Medical register as their additional qualification as it is not a recognised medical qualification under the IMC Act.
Over 10 doctors had approached the court after Medical Council of India (MCI) refused to recognise their additional qualification acquired from the University of Buckingham, UK.
