National Herald contacted the spokesperson of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), under whose zone Akbar Road falls, who denied that there was any such move to rename Akbar Road. Spokesperson Sehrawat said for any road to be renamed, the process has to go through the renaming council and no such official move has been initiated.

It remains unknown who pasted the poster saying ‘Maharana Pratap Road’ on the Akbar Road signage overnight.
