Maruti sales down by 31.5% in September

The company’s total year-to-date sales (April-September) also fell by 24 percent to 740,911 units as against 975,327 units in the same period last year

India’s largest automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has reported a dip of 31.5 percent in domestic passenger car sales to 78,979 units in September 2019. The company sold 115,228 units in the same month last year. The company’s total year-to-date sales (April-September) also fell by 24 percent to 740,911 units as against 975,327 units in the same period last year.

The mini segment consisting of Alto and old model of WagonR witnessed a 42.6 percent decline in sales, selling just 20,085 units. The compact segment which has a wider range comprising the new model of WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire, saw sales dipping by 22.7 percent to 57,179 units.


Overall domestic sales slipped by 24.8 percent to 115,452 units as compared to 153,550 units in September 2018. However, in August, Maruti Suzuki had sold 97,061 units in August.

Exports have also declined 17.8 percent to 7,188 units last month.
