The ‘Vision to Delivery Roadmap 2020-2025’ of the Madhya Pradesh government is a “very precise, focused and realistic collection of aspirations”, former prime minister Manmohan Singh said on the occasion of the release of the vision document in Bhopal.

He said the Chief Minister Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh has made significant progress in accelerating the pace of social and economic development of the state in its first year.

“This includes creating fresh employment for thousands of new entrants to the labour force by collaborating with Industry as well as by promoting micro businesses and addressing health and education issues which have not received adequate attention in the past. Thus it has delivered on many of the promises that were made to the people,” Singh said.

He said that the vision document takes into consideration all the 11 sectors at the top level.

“Given the importance of agriculture in the economy of Madhya Pradesh, the commitment of state government towards improving lives of farmers and inclusive growth of other deprived sections of the society has already begun to yield results by newly launched schemes like ‘Jai Kisaan Loan Waiver Scheme’ where about 2 lakh farmers have been benefited up till now and remaining are going to be covered in the next cycle of the scheme,” Singh noted.

He also mentioned the ‘Naya Savera Scheme’ for unorganized labourers that integrates multiple benefits related to child education, medical treatment, accident insurance, subsidized electricity etc at one platform.

He said the first theme is on economic prosperity of the state and this brings out the government’s focus on strengthening the industrial sector and agro processing activities. Agro processing activities are designed as a major vehicle of economic growth of the state.

Initiatives related to promotion of investment in the manufacturing and services sector including food processing will create more jobs in the organized sector and ensures better price realization to the farmers, the former prime minister said.

“The state government has shown its commitment to strengthening education both school, technical education and skill development in the roadmap document. This shows state’s commitment to create quality human resources,” he said.
