Bihar police is collecting information about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its affiliates. This could upset the BJP and turn out to be a new point for tussle between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his ally BJP.

Home Department in Bihar, which reports directly Bihar CM Kumar, is gathering information of the RSS and 19 related outfits.

According to a report in NDTV, Information was sought by a senior police official of the Special Branch, which is the intelligence wing of the Bihar police and which briefs the Chief Minister on various sensitive issues.

The special branch through a letter has sought details from all deputy superintendents of police on the field in week. Nitish Kumar, who heads state Home Ministry, overlooks both the Home Department and the Special Branch.

The letter has not gone down well with the BJP. Member of Legislative Council, Sanjay Mayukh raised it in the house, saying the move was not required.

The letter is dated May 28, five days after the May 23 national election verdict that created a rift between Nitish Kumar and BJP.

The state Home Ministry official had described it as a part of routine process and nothing big.

Bihar government move was seen to reflect Bihar CM’s resentment after the BJP, revelling in its supersized election tally even without allies, decided that each ally would only get one spot each in the union cabinet.

Nitish Kumar argued that the rule should not apply to his Janata Dal United, which won just one seat less than BJP in Bihar.

The upset Bihar Chief Minister decided that his party would have no minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet.
