Hitting out at the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government for mishandling the COVID-19 pandemic in Uttar Pradesh, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi said that its “no test, no Corona policy is frightening” and “it encourages corruption” in the system.

Stating that this (approach) will further lead to further deterioration of the situation in the state, Priyanka in her latest letter to the CM said, “By managing news and advertisement, fight against Corona cannot be won”.

Highlighting the rising number of the COVID-19 infected people in cities along with the pandemic reaching villages, Priyanka said, “Quarantine centers in UP are pathetic. People fear more mismanagement than Corona. People don’t step out of their home for the test,” said Priyanka Gandhi. “This is a great failure of the government,” asserted Priyanka Gandhi.

Taking a swipe at the PM, Defence Minister and other Cabinet ministers, the Congress general secretary said, “The PM represents Varanasi constituency and Defence Minister is from Lucknow. Similarly, other Cabinet ministers are also from UP. Why can you not set up temporary hospitals in these cities?” she questioned.

Expressing hope that the BJP-led government will take appropriate steps to tackle the situation, Priyanka extended support to the government.
