From ‘floccinaucinihilipilification’ and ‘snollygoster’ to ‘webaqoof’ and ‘Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia’, Congress MP from Thiruvanthapuram Shashi Tharoor is known to send social media into a tizzy every time he struts his lexicon-stuff.

Following the historic victory by the Indian cricket team over Australia at Brisbane in January, social media had exploded with hundreds of users expressing jubilation at the team’s formidable feat. One particular tweet that stood out and drew wide attention was, however, a single ‘word of the day’ comment posted by Shashi Tharoor.

Shashi Tharoor tweeted: " #WordIfTheDay: epicaricacy! I am not the gloating kind, but there's a special pleasure in reading these comments today... When everything else has been said, what remains but “wow”?!”

‘Epicaricacy’, as per the dictionary, is the act of rejoicing at or deriving pleasure from the misfortunes of others.

A couple of days back, Tharoor was trolled by a Pakistan-based stand up comedian Akbar Chaudry, who posted a video on Twitter pretending to crush a dictionary using a mixer and drinking it up and inject it into his veins etc.

Tharoor acknowledged the video and took it sportingly, suggesting that the next video should be made on Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
