“Whoever stands against RSS’ and Narendra Modi ji’s ideology is attacked” said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after getting bail in the defamation case filed by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi.

Talking to media on Saturday in Patna, he said, “My fight is to save the Constitution, to stand for the poor and the farmers”.

Sushil Modi had filed defamation case against Rahul Gandhi for his satirical comment in context of fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi and another fugitive Lalit Modi.

“Rahul defames and hurts the sentiments of everyone who has the Modi surname,” Sushil Modi had alleged.

At an election rally at Kolar in Karnataka on April 13, Gandhi had said, “I have a question. Why do all thieves have Modi in their names, whether be it Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, and Narendra Modi? We don’t know how many more such Modis will come out.”

Earlier in the day Rahul tweeted that he will appear at the court in Patna on Saturday.

Two more cases have been filed against Rahul Gandhi for the remark.

BJP leader Manoj Modi had filed a case against Rahul Gandhi in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s (CJM) court in Bihar’s Purnea district on April 24.

Similarly, BJP MLA Purnesh Modi had also filed a case against Rahul for allegedly hurting his sentiments, following which a Gujarat court had issued summons to Rahul.
