As thousands of migrants thronged at Ramlila Maidan in Ghaziabad on Monday in a desperate bid to register with the state government to go back home, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi attacked the Yogi government for mishandling the migrant crisis.

Slamming the UP government for not allowing buses arranged by the Congress to transport migrants, Priyanka took to Twitter and said that the UP government cannot make arrangements systematically.

If the same arrangements were done smoothly a month ago, the laborers would not have affected so much, she added. “Yesterday we provided 1000 buses at the UP border but the UP government was busy doing politics. They did not even give permission. The government is neither ready and refuses to give any help to the people who are in distress,” said Priyanka Gandhi.

The government is neither ready to help the destitute nor allowing anyone to offer help, she stressed.

It is worth noting here that the Yogi government, despite several appeals by the Congress party and Priyanka Gandhi, did not allow the buses to cross over near the Govardhan border, Mathura.

Nearly 500 buses, which took off from Rajasthan’s Alwar and Bharatpur to transport migrants to their respective places, are parked near the border since Sunday afternoon.
