One announcement which sent the nation into jubilation, except few diehard modi bhakts, and not attracted any criticism is the decision of Priyanka Gandhi joining the active politics. From common men to elite, everyone welcomed the move and praised the aura which Priyanka Gandhi carries.

Immediately after the announcement pictures of Priyanka and Indira Gandhi, could be seen everywhere from social media platforms to every news channel and print media.

Sheila Dikshit, who served as the MoS at Prime Minister’s office in Rajiv Cabinet before becoming the longest serving Chief Minister of Delhi, had seen Priyanka growing up. “She is a very lovable personality and devoted to whatever she is asked to do. She is very polished and never gives you an impression that she comes from such an eminent family, a very down to earth person” says Sheila Dikshit.

The composure Priyanka displayed at her father’s cremation is seen rare and automatically connects to Indira Gandhi. The way she handles the Amethi and Raebareli tells all that what material she is “she is an excellent organiser as she has proved herself in Amethi and Raebareli in organising the workers and keeping them motivated. Her joining the active politics has energised the party and worker and this feel I got from my own constituency” says Sushmita Dev, Lok Sabha member and President of the Mahila Congress.

“she is loving and caring and every interaction with her has increased my respect for her. When I came back here after serving as a Governor of Kerala and party wanted to do something for UP, she wanted me to do something, she came over to my house herself which was very graceful of her” shares Sheila Dikshit. Talking to NH Sheila says “I really admire her to be very sincere and circumspect.”

On her running the organisation Sushmita Dev says “I have interacted with her on very few occasions as Mahila Congress President and my impression of her is that she has worked a lot at grassroot in Amethi and Raebareli and because of this she understands the pulse of the people and worker which is very important to run any organisation.”

Sharmistha Mukherjee, Chief spokesperson of Delhi Congress and daughter of former President Pranab Mukherji, on Priyanka Gandhi joining the active politics told NH “The decision has really enthused the workers and general public. The feedback I am getting from many non-political people is this that it is a very welcome move. They feel that she has chosen a very difficult area which is a stronghold of Modi and Yogi and this shows that she has tremendous courage and the ability to take the challenge face on.”

Sharmishtha says that though she had no one to one interaction with her but only one incident bold her over “When my father became the President of India Sonia Ji’s family was invited for dinner. After the dinner when they were to leave our family members were standing in a queue to see them off. My niece, Ahana, about six years old at that time, was holding a chocolate in one hand and ice cream in another and she was not in a position to bid farewell with folded hands. We all were doing namaste, handshake. When Priyanka crossed Ahana and as both hands of my niece were full, so she extended her elbow and Priyanka immediately reacted ‘hmm’ and rubbed her elbow with Ahana in a playful manner. I found this as very spontaneous and quick thinking because other people would have just hold her elbow in reaction but her rubbing elbow in playful manner showed Priyanka’s resourcefulness and loving and caring nature. This shows she is fun, resourceful and quick-thinking person and she knows how to deal at what time in quicktime. This one incident stuck my mind which I share with everybody and Priyanka’s this nature will help congress to connect with people and worker.”

On her running the organisation Sushmita Dev says “I have interacted with her on very few occasions as Mahila Congress President and my impression of her is that she has worked a lot at grassroot in Amethi and Raebareli and because of this she understands the pulse of the people and worker which is very important to run any organisation.” Talking to NH Sushmita says “Priyanka ji told me few things which I could implement in Mahila congress. She told me that workers need recognition of his/her work and their work is measurable through an App. This App helps in knowing the update of the work done or the work in progress and this information helps in motivating the workers”.
