A group of activists held a peaceful protest in a Varanasi-Delhi IndiGo flight condemning the ban on stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for heckling TV anchor and journalist Arnab Goswami, a report on The Telegraph said.

While the plane was on the runway, activists Priya Pillai, Medha Kapoor, Debayan Gupta and another person stood up with placards which said, “We condemn IndiGo’s ban on Kunal Kamra #YouDivideWeMultiply,” according to The Telegraph. Their picture was taken by their friend, Munna Jha.

After a few minutes of their peaceful protest, Indigo’s security ground staff went in and asked them to be seated, to which the protesters agreed.

The Telegraph quoted Indigo sources as saying that the protest was ‘peaceful’.

One of the protesters and activists Priya Pillai said some of the fellow passengers were supportive but a few of them felt that it was against the rules.

After the controversial run-in between Kunal Kamra and Arnab Goswami, the civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri asked airlines to ban Kunal Kamra for ‘unruly behaviour’, sidelining the rules. After which the comedian was banned from four airlines ( IndiGo, Air India, GoAir and SpiceJet ).
