Ahead of his two-day visit to India, United States President Donald Trump claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had informed him that there would be seven million people between the airport and the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad to welcome him.

This is the second time the US President has spoken about the number of people waiting to welcome him upon his arrival in Ahmedabad.

“I happen to like PM Modi a lot. He told me we will have 7 million people between the airport and the event. It's going to be the largest stadium in the world. It's going to be very exciting,” said Trump.

Interestingly, the population of Ahmedabad stood at 5.5 million as per the 2011 Census. Also, the distance from the airport to Motera stadium is 10.8 kilometres. Now, if we calculate, then about 650 people will have to jostle for space for every one metre! Now, remember that the Modi sarkar is no stranger to statistical jugglery.

Meanwhile, slamming the Modi government for making elaborate and expensive arrangements for US President Donald Trump's first visit to India, the Congress Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, on Wednesday asked as to what was the need of bringing 70 lakh people to welcome Trump. "Is he God," he asked.

Speaking to news agency ANI, the Congress leader said, "Is Trump God that 70 lakh people will gather around to welcome him? He is coming here for his own interests. Trump is not doing the trade deal. He just wants to work for the benefit of America and is not coming to make us happy... (Trump kya Bhagwan hai kya? 7 million log khada karne ki kya zaroorat hai? Vo trade deal nai kar raha hai, uske liye America first hai, vo sirf America ka dhandha karna chahta hai, hamko khush karne nahi aa raha)."

This promise by PM Modi as claimed by Donald Trump has left netizens in splits. Many users on social media have advised Trump not to trust Modi as he had promised a lot many things to Indian voters in Lok Sabha Election 2014 including ₹15 lakh per person and the proverbial moon and the stars.
