The Rajasthan Government on Monday summarily dismissed an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) who sought sexual favours and bribe from a rape victim, a day after the erring officer was caught red-handed by the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Urban development minister Shanti Dhariwal made this announcement in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday.

Dhariwal said, the officer, Kailash Bohra, who was posted with the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Jaipur, had sought sexual favour from a 30-year-old rape victim.

On Sunday, Bohra called the victim to his office and tried to make advances. However, the ACB team had laid the trap and caught the officer red-handed.

The woman had approached the ACB after Bohra asked for sexual favours from her in in lieu of “properly investigating the case”. She also alleged that the officer had also taken Rs 50,000 in bribe from her.

Minister Dhariwal said the act of the police officer was shameful and the government, considering it a rarest of rare case, used its special powers under Article 311 of the Constitution to summarily dismiss Bohra.

State Home Department Deputy Secretary Ramniwas Mehta on Monday morning issued the suspension orders of Bohra and within 24 hours after the Sunday the government dismissed the officer.

Bohra, a Rajasthan Police Service officer was in line for promotion to the Indian Police Service (IPS). He was made the in-charge of a cell formed in the Jaipur Police Commissionerate to tackle cases of atrocities against women.
