A local court in Ranchi granted bail to Richa Bharti who is a student and who was booked for sharing a post inciting communal hatred on Facebook. The condition for the bail was that she will distribute five copies of the Quran at different organisations.

The Judicial Magistrate Manish Singh, granted bail to Richa Bharti directing her to donate one copy of the religious text to Sadar Anjuman Islamia Committee and libraries of four other institutions.

The distribution has to be done in the presence of the administration and the receipts of the same have to be provided to the court within 15 days, told the lawyer of the accused to TOI.

The case was registered at the Pithoria Police station after the post was made public on social media following which she was arrested. The action resulted in criticism from the locals as well as some Hindu organisations. The matter escalated to the point that a protest was organised which lasted till the SP of the area assured the crowd that no strict action would be taken against the girl.

The court has, in the past also given different bail conditions to communal hate cases including the responsibility of traffic control on the roads.
