Randeep Surjewala’s scathing lesson to Arun Jaitley on the 42-member NDA alliance

While NDA boasted of 30 members in 2014, it has now bloated to a 42-member opportunistic alliance, points out Randeep Surjewala, in-charge of the Communications department of the Congress.

Reacting to Arun Jaitley’s jibes on the ‘ Mahagathbandhan’ or the opposition ‘Grand Alliance’ as a grouping of disparate groups, Randeep Surjewala points out that the NDA iby that token is much more disparate and opportunistic. describing Jaitley as a ‘bogus blogger’, he reminds Jaitley that the NDA itself is now a grouping of as many as 42 different parties and groups.

Will Arun Jaitley describe the NDA as ‘ Maha Milawat’ , he asked rhetorically.

Joining issues with Jaitley, who said that alliances should be forged in the interest of the nation, Surjewala scoffed at the claim and wondered how Jaitley could defend the several opportunistic alliances forged by the BJP, solely to grab or retain power.

“BJP’s alliances are based on political opportunism” while Congress’ alliances are based “ common ideology” and common minimum programme, he asserted.

  • BJP has aligned with parties that are its ideological opponents – like the PDP in J & K.
  • BJP has broken parties in smaller states like – People’s Party of Arunachal & MGP in Goa to attain power.
  • BJP shares power with ally NPP in Meghalaya, but NPP fields candidates against them in all NE states for Lok Sabha elections.
  • BJP’s ‘Operation Kamal’ failed miserably in Karnataka & during Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections.

“Since Shri Arun Jaitley does not understand the nuts and bolts of electoral politics on the ground, let us give him some stark examples and show him the reality of how opportunistic and ideologically deficient BJP’s alliances are,” Surjewala said in a statement and pointed out the following facts:

Maharashtra

BJP’s long term ally Shiv Sena uses ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’, never leaves an opportunity. Still, BJP shamelessly allies with them, because they practice opportunistic politics.

Farm leader Shri Raju Shetty’s party Swabhimani Paksha also left NDA because of ideological reasons.

Punjab

BJP’s oldest alliance partner, Akali Dal threatens them on a daily basis, but they have to stick together for marriage of convenience.

Odisha

BJP has tacit understanding with old ally BJD, but can’t spell it out- because it’s opportunistic.

Tripura

BJP’s ally IPFT has already dumped them

Bihar

BJP’s ally JD(U) was part of the Mahagathbandhan. Both abused each other between February 2015 – July 2017, but they again formed a marriage of convenience.

Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha, dumped BJP.

Shri Upendra Khushwaha’s RLSP and Shri Mukesh Sahni’s VIP party both dumped the BJP.

Andhra Pradesh

BJP’s ally TDP dumped them

Telangana

BJP has a tacit understanding with TRS- its ‘B’Team. Only reason- Opportunism

Jammu & Kashmir

BJP formed an alliance with PDP for almost 3 years and enjoyed the fruits of power through this unholy alliance, because of opportunistic politics.

Assam

BJP was dumped by its Assam ally AGP on ideological issues, following the Citizenship Amendment Bill, but BJP whose hunger of power surpasses ideological boundaries had to patch up with them. Reason is simple- Power at any cost.

Jharkhand

BJP is almost ally less. Facing difficulty in ally AJSU’s seat.

Sikkim

BJP dumped its long term alliance partner SDF and has again entered into an opportunistic alliance with Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM).

West Bengal

BJP lost its ally GJM (Gurkha Janmukti Morcha) because BJP had only formed an opportunistic alliance of Darjeeling issue, but failed it address their ideological cause, resulting in severe law and order issue in the hill town.

Karnataka

BJP lost its ally Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha

Uttar Pradesh

BJP played a dirty game and broke its ally Apna Dal’s party. BJP’s ally & Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Shri Om Prakash Rajbhar daily abuses the BJP. But BJP prefers to stick to his party because of opportunism.

If ‘Rank Opportunism’ & ‘Marriage of Convenience’ to grab power at any cost is BJP’s idea of building coalitions ‘Federalism’ – then people will certainly defeat PM Modi’s ‘Mahagatbandhan’!
