A  multilingual, multi-starrer film on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will be released ahead of the 2019 elections, reported The Print. Unconfirmed reports suggested that the film would be funded by the BJP. According to initial reports, ₹180-crore would be spent on the film.

According to media reports, KV Vijendra Prasad, who has scripted Bahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Vijay-starrer Mersal , has been roped in to write the script of the film in consultation with RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy.

Another website claimed that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has approved the script. It has been learnt that Prasad and Velu had met Bhagwat and made a detailed presentation of the proposal.

People who are in the know of the project have claimed that Prasad and his team of 27 people have been working on the project for months. However, a director has not been finalised yet.

BJP supporter and Kannada cine audio tycoon Lahari Velu Thulasi Naidu and his brother G Manohar Naidu will produce the film, reported the Quint.

Velu was quoted as saying that two titles — RSS Bhagwa Dhwaj and RSS —have been registered.

Another BJP supporter, Subhash Chandra of the Zee Group, has been roped in to distribute the film.

RSS sources have confirmed to NH that the film will explore the origins and achievements of the saffron organisation since its inception. “The idea is to change the misconception about RSS and to bring out its true character of the RSS in front of the people, apart from glorifying the life of great patriots like MS Golwalkar ji and Savarakar ji,” he said on the condition of anonymity.

Many A-list Bollywood actors have been approached to play prominent
characters in the film. Some media outlets have named Akshay Kumar as
one of the lead actors.

According to media reports, originally made in Hindi, the film will also be dubbed into Telugu, Tamil, Kannada for domestic audience and in English for an international audience.

When asked why the Baahubali writer, Prasad was chosen, the RSS functionary said that the idea to make a feature film on the origins of RSS was conceived a long time ago. “Prasad and Velu approached us first, so it was decided to go with them,”added the RSS functionary.

“Nothing can be better than this,” said the RSS functionary with enthusiasm over the phone.
