Security beefed up at Dhoni’s farmhouse in Ranchi following threats to daughter

The cricketer’s wife and daughter have stayed back in their farmhouse as MS Dhoni undergoes a bad patch in IPL being played in the UAE. Here are pictures of the farmhouse and of the criketer’s pets

Security has been beefed up at Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s farmhouse on the outskirts of Ranchi following threats to his family on social media following the fifth consecutive defeat of Chennai Super Kings led by him in the Indian Premier League. His wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva have stayed back in Ranchi while the IPL is being held in the UAE. are staying in the sprawling 7-acre farm house.

The cricketing legend and former Captain of Team India Dhoni, a Ranchi boy, has been going through a disappointing patch in the IPL. His failure with the bat and CSK losing five of the seven matches led to a section of angry fans abuse him. A few reportedly issued even rape threats to his five-year old daughter.


Taking no chances, Jharkhand Government has mounted a 24-hour vigil at the farmhouse and deployed a static force to keep watch. The threats went up after CSK lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 10 runs. However, unlike on previous occasions when Team India under him lost tournaments, there has been no act of vandalism or mobs assembling near the cricketer’s house.

Security concerns were among the reasons why the cricketer moved from his house to the farmhouse, which was completed in 2017 at Simaliya near Ratu on the Ring Road but barely 20 minutes away from his Harmu colony house.

Christened Kailashpati the farmhouse has a gym, a swimming pool, a sprawling lawn and a beautifully landscaped garden. The farmhouse had also become necessary because of the cricketer’s collection of cars and bikes. Besides, a dog lover, Dhoni has a number of dogs and built a training area for them inside the farmhouse.

People close to Dhoni say he also wanted his daughter to grow up close to Nature and wildlife. On the World Lizard Day, Ziva posted a video of a chameleon sitting on her bicycle. The day Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket, his wife Sakshi shared the picture of a sunset view from their farmhouse. It was an emotional goodbye post that received over one million likes from fans.


The criketer’s dream farmhouse, elegant and stylish, has a special party area, an area demarcated for barbecue and looks like a valley of flowers when in bloom.

The only sore spot are the policemen in Khaki posted around the farmhouse.
