KV Kamath, veteran banker and chairman of BRICS Bank is likely to replace finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman after the budget, sources told NH.

Unhappy over the mishandling of the economy by Sitharaman, the Modi government is seriously mulling over replacing the finance minister along with her deputy Anurag Thakur.

As per sources, right-wing idealogue Swapan Dasgupta and Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant may also be inducted in the ministry.

Citing unidentified sources, Newsagency IANS has also reported that Kamath may be inducted as the finance minister after the budget.

Kamath before his stint with the BRICK bank served as the chairman of Infosys, and as the non-executive chairman of ICICI Bank.

Kamath is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University.

He also served as an independent director on the boards of the Houston-based oil services company Schlumberger since 2010, and the Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer Lupin.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is slated to present the budget for Financial Year – 2020-21 wherein she is expected to announce a slew of measures for growth to bounce back.
