Congress leader and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh turned 87 today. As an honoured economist and statesman, it is but natural for him to receive warm wishes from everybody.

But what is surprising is that some of his sore trolls have come around to apologising to him, realising the gem he was for the Indian economy. On Twitter, along with wishes and love for the humble man, many people expressed their deep regret for making him face so much flak.

Most people expressed a need for him to help the economic duress that the country is in today and wondered whether we would be in this situation had Dr Singh been in charge of the economy. Alas, that is a question we’ll never know the answer to.

Here are a select few tweets expressing love and warmth to the former PM, urging him to take the reigns again.
