Former Union minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz has called upon the Lt. Governor of J&K to institute a high-level enquiry into the so-called ‘encounter’ at Lawaypora in which three young men of Pulwama were killed recently.

“It is now being debated hotly in public space on the basis of evidence that there was no encounter at Lawaypora in which three young men of Pulwama were killed recently. The people are convinced that it was a cold-blooded murder of three youngsters who were 11th class students,” he said in a media statement issued on Monday.

“The least that is expected of J&K UT Lt. Governor is that he institutes a high-level enquiry, preferably judicial enquiry and place the facts before the people who feel distressed on this episode of organized violence,” he said.

“Meanwhile, the families who suffered these killings of their dear ones have been left to their lot and relief has not been provided to them. It is so tragic that these concerned families of Kulgam happen to be the poorest. They are at God’s mercy!” he added.
