Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla on May 4 tweeted an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, which turned out to be fake. A closer look at the image shows a disembodied hand can be seen holding her right arm, and possible also her left arm, though that side of the image cannot be seen fully.

Here is the tweet in question:

Sampla was trying to put down former Congress President Sonia Gandhi by claiming that “Our Beloved PM Shri Narendra Modi’s Mother is still travelling in auto, while Rahul Gandhi’s Mother is the World's 4th Wealthiest Politician!” However, it’s doubtful how many will believe his claims, given the fake image he used.

Sampla’s fake image was called out on Twitter by senior journalists. One pointed out that the base image of the PM’s mother which was used, is four years old.
