The ruling BJP party in Uttarakhand finds itself mired in another sex scandal following allegations by a married woman that Mahesh Negi, BJP MLA from Dwarahat, had been allegedly sexually exploiting her for the past two years and is the father of her two-year-old daughter. She accused the BJP MLA of raping her at various places between 2016 and 2018, and in a complaint to Dehradun police sought a DNA test on her daughter.

The lid on the sex scandal came off when the wife of the BJP MLA Mahesh Negi lodged a complaint with Dehradun police that a woman has been blackmailing her family demanding Rs five crore and threatening to kidnap her son. She said that the women also threatened to charge her husband with a false rape case if her demands were not met.

However, the woman in question came out with a video that very same evening, charging the MLA of raping her at several places including Mussoorie, Nainital, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Nepal between 2016 and 2018. She demanded that a DNA test should be conducted on her daughter and claimed that Mahesh Negi is the father of her daughter.

She also denied the allegations levelled by the MLA’s wife as false. She said allegations of her blackmailing the legislator are untrue and she only wanted that her daughter should get recognition.

Mahesh Negi has termed the allegations as false, malicious and fabricated. However, the married women said that she had got a DNA test done of her daughter and her husband which has come negative.

DG (Law and order) Ashok Kumar said that both the complaints namely by the woman against the BJP MLA and the complaint by the wife of the MLA against the woman has been lodged at Nehru Colony police station, Dehradun and the police is looking into it.

The woman, who claims to be the MLA’s neighbour, said that she had met him in 2016 for help during the illness of her mother. She also accused the wife of the legislator of offering her money to keep her mouth shut.

Interestingly, Uttarakhand BJP has rocked by such a scandal for the second time. Earlier, a BJP General Secretary, Sanjay Kumar, who is from RSS, was accused of allegedly sexually exploiting a girl working in the organization. A police complaint was lodged by the girl after much efforts but nothing came out of the matter.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Congress Chief Pritam Singh has demanded a DNA test on BJP legislator Mahesh Negi to know the truth. “These are serious allegations and a DNA test should be conducted. Why is the legislator afraid if he is innocent,” he said.
