A video of recently sworn in Education minister of Bihar Mewalal Chaudhary has gone viral on social media. In the video, Mewalal can be seen saluting with one hand and reading the national anthem ‘incorrectly’ from a paper held in another hand. The video has been tweeted by the Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam raising doubts over the recently elected NDA government

He is the new Education Minister of Bihar. It is being said that he was the Vice Chancellor of a university earlier. He is unable to sing national anthem. He has also charges of corruption against him. Who will wash away these sins of Indian democracy?, tweeted Sanjay Nirupam.

Earlier, the Mewalal Choudhary came under attack from the Opposition over a corruption case against him.

The corruption allegations are related to the irregularities in appointments to posts of assistant professor and junior scientist. The allegations were revealed in 2017 when he was the vice-chancellor of Bhagalpur agriculture university.

According to The Indian Express, RJD MP and spokesperson Manoj Kumar Jha said, “The choice of Mewalal Choudhary as education minister makes such a loud statement about the CM’s weakened position in the new scheme of things post-verdict. A clear message has gone to Bihar that one cannot expect anything positive from the government with these kinds of choices dominating the constitution of the cabinet.”.

Jha said Nitish Kumar tried to take a “high moral ground” over a “non-case” of corruption when he walked out of the Grand Alliance in 2017, bringing down the coalition government with RJD and Congress.
