As tension is gradually building up in and around Ayodhya over proposed Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)-Shiv Sena rally on November 25, a group of students in Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow was spotted chanting provocative slogans on the campus.

In a 17-second video, which surfaced late Friday evening, November 16, students allegedly belonging to the RSS’ student wing ABVP can be seen shouting communal slogans such as : “25 November ko Chalo Ayodhya ” (0n November 25, let’s go to Ayodhya) and “Mandir wahi Banayenge ” (We will build the temple there only).

Although the identity of the students cannot be ascertained, but sources told National Herald that the students in the video are associated with the ABVP. “They have been mobilising students for the proposed rally for quite some time,” told a student on the condition of anonymity.

In another video, purportedly shot in the library, students can be heard in the background shouting : “Jai Shri Ram, Jai Shri Ram,” “25 November Ko Chalo Ayodhya.”

Another student of the university, who also did not wish to be named, said, “This is a part of their larger design. In the run up to the assembly and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sangh Parivar has started mobilising people and stirring up the religious sentiments.”

“That is predictable….silence of the administration came as a shock to me. How can the VC and the Registrar allow such activities on the campus?” questioned the student.

Questioning the silence of the university administration, the student further said, “How could they take out a procession shouting such venomous slogans? They can be easily identified. University administration should lodge a complaint with the police.”

We tried to contact the varsity administration but could not get any response till the time of publishing of the story. We will update the report, as and when the varsity administration responds.

Incidentally, the RSS’ affiliate VHP and BJP ally Shiv Sena have announced a huge rally in Ayodhya on November 25, pressing for the legislation for the construction of Ram temple.

Pertinently, the Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing for the Ram Mandir suit to January, ignoring Uttar Pradesh government’s request for an early hearing.

Criticising the apex court judgment, various right-wing outfits have asked Modi government to pass a new legislation for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Although, Muslims of Ayodhya have voiced their concerns but no official word has yet come from the BJP government led by Yogi Adityanath. There are strong apprehensions that RSS affiliates are leaving no stone unturned in the state to repeat another 1992-like communal conflict.
