A few years ago, across India and the globe, before the boom of the internet and social media, animal welfare and protection was a tedious job for many animal lovers. But after the explosion of social media platforms various initiatives many individuals, celebrities, influencers came forward to do their bit to protect animals against human brutality.

Many influential celebrities, despite their busy schedule have come forward to help these animals and look out for their welfare in the best possible way. On World Animal Day, let's look at the list with some of the good samaritans amongst many from the Bollywood industry who never let the flag down and have been vocal for animal welfare.

Ayushmann Khurrana

The young versatile actor Ayushmann Khurrana, despite being one of the most sought after actors in current times, ensures his love and affection for the animals remains intact and is always on the forefront to look after animal welfare either by adopting pets or by being associated with PETA and various other movements for animal welfare and protection.


Wamiqa Gabbi

The young actress after her mesmerizing performance in Grahan has been an active animal activist since she was very young. Wamiqa has been vocal about the brutality against animals especially dogs and cows on her social media platforms. She regularly keeps a tab over animals that are rescued through her initiative with various NGOs that adopt such animals. Sidharth Malhotra

The handsome hunk Sidharth Malhotra is a huge animal lover and it is evident through his social media posts. Sidharth has been associated with various animal welfare associations and PETA. Sidharth has pledged to be more considerate and responsible towards our constantly endangered wildlife as well stray animals around us. The young talented youth icon Alia Bhatt besides being known as one of the finest actors in Bollywood, is also known as an animal activist who follows her heart that beats for animal welfare. Through her social media posts, she regularly keeps a tab on rescued animals. She is a proud cat mommy for two beautiful cats Edward and Juniper that keep her calm and happy.


Jacqueline Fernandez

The beautiful Jacqueline Fernandes is known for her works towards animal welfare. She actively participates in various animals welfare drives. The recent one involves helping stray cats and sterilising dogs. It's very disheartening to see that most of the stray animals don't get proper food and shelter that affect their health. Jacqueline helps such animals with a group of experts in order to provide them food, shelter, and medical assistance. She herself is the proud owner of 4 Persian cats.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

The super talented Family Man 2 actress Samantha is an ardent animal lover. Her love for animals is evident through her social media posts that she keeps on updating regularly. Samantha has been vocal about the atrocities been done to many animals. She is also associated with PETA. Samantha is also part of various organizations that looks after stray animal welfare. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli

The sensational couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are super animal lovers and have been advocating for animal welfare and protection. Recently, they have set up two new animal shelters in Mumbai that will look after the medical needs of stray animals. Anushka has been passionate since a very young age about animal welfare and animal rights.
