West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar has claimed at a public programme in Kolkata on Friday, October 25, that ever since he became the Governor of the state, i.e. three months, he has read 1,000 books to better understand the state, according to a report by Anandabazar Patrika (https://www.anandabazar.com/state/jagdeep-dhankhar-has-read-1000-books-within-three-months-1.1063058), the largest circulated Bengali daily from the ABP Group which also owns The Telegraph and ABP News among other brands.

That makes it more than 11 books a day. Without any sleep, it means reading one book every two hours and a few extra minutes. That takes some serious doing.

At a cultural programme held at the historical Shovabajar Palace in North Kolkata, he said, "I have been here for just three months. In this period, I have read more than 1000 books."

Following this, Dhankar highlighted the cultural, educational, literary and intellectual legacy and its continued practice in Bengal. Anandabazar Patrika summed up his speech saying, "The summary of his address - in education, culture and talent - India is the best in the world and West Bengal the best in India."

The Governor also added, "I want to mingle with the people of Bengal at a personal level. I want to know about the literary world and cultural space of Bengal. Protocol often comes in the way. I am not a man of protocols. I am a common citizen but, still, I have to abide by protocol."
