How has theatre helped you to shape you as an actor?

Theatre has really helped me a lot and as an actor. Whatever I’m is all because of theatre. So all the credit goes to theatre. I did 4 years of theatre in Lucknow and then 3 years in NSD and later on Kingdom of dreams. So theatre has played a significant role in shaping me as an actor. It has helped me to grow as a human being as well and molded my craft in a very better way. Theatre teaches you the sense of detailing and getting into the character. So it’s expands an artist’s capacity from with in.

Tell us about your journey.

My journey is going on and it’s very beautiful till now. I feel it’s like a road journey where we want to reach our destination soon. But sometimes it takes time due to traffic and hurdles and sometimes you get there easily. Same is with my professional journey. Sometimes there is no work and sometimes there is a good amount of work to do. As such I didn’t face a lot of struggle. I shifted in Mumbai in 2016 and got Bareilly Ki Barfi in the same year through audition.

Tell us about Love J Action.

The show was a romantic thriller and that the series is about a small-town love story, where there is a typical smart boy Jackson and a beautiful girl Kamya. The guy falls in love with Kamya and though she is already engaged, she has a soft corner for Jackson. The couple decides to run away from the city. The series is all about how Kamya and Jackson overcome their difficulties. The character I’m playing comes from that section of the society which is unprivileged due to finance, illiteracy, caste and much more. So he comes from that background and what makes this character interesting is that he wants respect and intends to take revenge due to the injustice he has faced.

You are currently shooting with Nawazuddin Siddiqui for ‘jogira sara ra ra’. Tell us about the working experience and vibe on set?

Kushan Nandy is such an amazing director to work with. I`m really impressed with his work in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz and now this film is a complete different genre. It`s out and out comedy and slice of life. Even his sense of humor is really great. Working with Neha and Nawazuddin is such an amazing experience. Its an altogether fun experience as it is a comedy film. First day shoot with Nawazuddin was like a fan boy moment for me. Because I’m a huge admirer of his work and really appreciate it. This is the first time I’m sharing screen space with him hence I’m really happy and also getting to learn a lot of things.

Nawazuddin was your NSD senior, how did you vibe with him on sets?

Working with Nawazuddin sir is an out-of-the-box experience since he is a phenomenal actor. My maximum scenes were with Nawazuddin sir so we improvised a lot. He is a very supportive co actor and even used to incorporate my ideas while shooting. Since it’s a comedy film so there was a lot of scope for improvising. Also he is my NSD senior so when he came to know I’m from NSD we talked a lot.
