The rock-rap lovers are left heartbroken after Chester Bennington, popular American singer and songwriter best-known as the frontman for the legendary rock band Linkin Park allegedly committed suicide at the age of 41. He was found dead in his home near Los Angeles on Thursday.

The voice which helped the band become one of the most successful acts in the 2000s would not be able to give anymore hits.

The singer’s suicide was a shock to his band mates because the group had a photo shoot planned just hours after he was found dead in his home from hanging himself. What’s more shattering for music lovers is that Linkin Park released a music video Talking to Myself a few hours before the news of his suicide came in.

The video features clips from the band's live shows and several shots of the vocalist himself performing on stage. Chester reportedly died on his close friend Chris Cornell’s birthday, who died just two months ago.

Mike Shinoda, a band member and a long time friend of Chester expressed grief over the sudden loss of his band mate on Twitter:

Los Angeles Coroner spokesman Brian Elias said authorities were investigating Bennington's death, but no additional details were available. His death was reportedly caused by hanging.

Soon after the news broke Twitter was full of emotional and heartfelt posts:

The singer had struggled for years with alcohol and drug abuse and frequently talked in the past about his wish of committing suicide because of being a victim of abuse as a child.

Chester Bennington will always be remembered for his amazingly melodious, creative and experimental fusion of rock and rap charged with soulful lyrics.
