Magic of music continues with the 35th Glastonbury Festival

The Glastonbury Festival, which is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world, launched its 35th edition on 21st June. The festival’s main stages opened on June 23rd and closed on Sunday 25th. The Festival has been named after the place Glastonbury, a town and civil parish in Somerset, England, where it has been taking place since 1970.

The Festival saw the performances of 88 major artists. Famous singers Ed Sheeran and Katy Perry, Rock bands Radiohead and Foo Fighters emerged as the showstoppers. An excited Sheeran tweeted before his performance:

The opening day saw performances by Airbag, Lucky, and Paranoid Android, with its chorus refrain of God loves his children. The Oxford Art Rockers also delivered hits at the event.

The Radiohead performed on some of the finest rock songs of the past 25 years, including Street Spirit, Everything in Its Right Place, Pyramid Song, No Surprises and Fake Plastic Trees. The day also saw other performances by artists Lorde, Kris Kristofferson, Music Bands Major Lazer & Ride and Future Islands as well as British pop singer Dua Lipa. Radioband also celebrated the 20th anniversary of OK Computer with the release of a special deluxe reissue called OKNOTOK.

Second day of the festival witnessed performances by the Foo Fighters who gave an explosive headline performance at Glastonbury 2017 on Saturday. The day saw other performances by famous bands, the Bootleg Beatles , Thundercat and singers Katy Perry, Liam Gallagher, British rapper Stormzy, singer Matt Berlinger.

The third day closed with the performances of Music star Ed Sheeran, Laura Marling, Barry Gibb, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers. Chic led by Nile Rodgers, The Killers and the Bee Gees were the Music Bands that performed on the closing night.

Organised around a restricted backstage compound, the site has the Pyramid stage on the north, and another stage on the south of the compound, the acoustic tent, comedy tent and circus on the east. To the south are the green fields, which include displays of traditional and environment friendly crafts.

The festival is home to a wide variety of acts; from circus to comedy as well as a combination of different artists extending accross multiple genres. The next edition of the festival will be held in 2019.
