The Congress's Rajasthan unit chief Sachin Pilot on Thursday alleged that the BJP government in the state was patronising the sand mafia and was not serious in checking illegal mining.

Congress workers demonstrated near the Assembly building against government's alleged "failure" to check illegal sand mafia.

Addressing the Congress workers, Pilot said the government's wrong policies on gravel sand had led to illegal mining.

He alleged that the BJP government patronised the sand mafia and it was not serious in checking illegal mining.

He said the government was not working in the direction of revoking the ban on sand mining.

Pilot claimed that the BJP government had betrayed the people and corruption was rampant under its rule.

He said that there was resentment among the people as well as within the BJP party and the public would give a fitting reply to the BJP in upcoming Assembly elections.
