BSP supremo Mayawati becomes active on twitter, Tejashwi thanks her for accepting his request 

BSP chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati became active on Twitter on Wednesday and within hours had thousands of followers. Tejashwi Yadav welcomed her on the micro blogging site

In a sign that she is ready to embrace changing times and politics, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Wednesday, February 6, announced that she will be active on social media, a party statement said.

She joined Twitter on October 2018 and her first tweet was on January 22 said: "Hello, brothers and sisters. With due respect let me introduce myself to the Twitter family.

"@sushrimayawati is my official Twitter handle for all my future interactions, comments, and updates," the first message from Mayawati said.


Minutes after her welcome post she got thousands of likes. She has over 31 thousand followers, which is expected to increase after the official statement released by the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister she has joined the micro-blogging site to ensure "speedy interaction with media and masses".

"Her official Twitter account will be used to express her views on various issues of national and political importance," a BSP statement said.

She has so far continued with her old style of politics including close door meets and one-on-one meetings with her party leaders and associates.

The 63-year-old has so far managed to maintain distance from the media also.

However, as soon as Mayawati got active RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav greeted Mayawati with a warm welcome and also revealed how he had requested Mayawati to be active on Twitter

“Finally glad to see you here. Happy that you acknowledged and respected my request of joining twitter during our meeting in Lucknow on 13th January. Warm Regards”
