Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and his party members have declared war against the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, post Budget. Naidu has called for an emergency meeting of all Telugu Desam MPs on Sunday, Feburary 4 to decide their further course of action. An angry TDP has accused BJP of betrayal and spoiling the sanctity of a relation. In Andhra Pradesh, BJP has started to do damage control. There are reports that BJP has conducted a meeting in this regard.

TDP MP and close Naidu aide Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, while talking to National Herald, has said that BJP and PM Modi are against the development of Andhra Pradesh. He further said that BJP is planning to fight the next elections alone that is why they are ignoring the demands of elected government of Andhra Pradesh. “While constituting AP as a separate state there were some amendments in law which are not being fulfilled by the BJP Government. We thought that he will do justice to Andhra in a budget before 2019 election, but he has insulted our demands”, said Rao. TDP MP Shiv Rai said that this situation is not because of the budget, but what we have been expecting from this government for long. “But in this budget, which is the last of this government, our state has been neglected totally.”

TDP spokesperson and MLC Vara Prasad said that in the last two to three years, CM Naidu has met PM Modi around 30 times and the finance minister on even more occasion. At every such meeting, Naidu has presented the state’s demands. At the time of formation of the state, AP had a fiscal deficit of ₹16,000 crore which had to be met by the act passed by Parliament. Two railway zones were promised and that has been ignored too.

This the first time after the coalition with BJP that TDP has declared a war against the government. The meeting of MPs called by Chandrababu Naidu is a sign of emergency.

There are reports of rumblings among other NDA coalition parties, besides the Shiv Sena, including the Shiromani Akali Dal and RLSP.
