Congress takes leads in 19 of 20 seats in Kerala

As the vote count for the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala began on Thursday morning, initial trends showed that the Congress was ahead in 19 places and the Left in one other, official sources said.

The BJP candidate in Thiruvananthapuram, after showing initial promise, slipped to the second position behind Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor. Tharoor was leading with over 1, 960 votes.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi was leading in Wayanad by over 25,801 votes, the sources said.

The Congress candidate, K Sudhakaran from Kannur is leading by 7,268 votes.

The Congress candidate, Kodikunnil Suresh is leading by 953 votes from Mavelikkara.

In Palakkad, Congress candidate V K Sreekandan, is leading by 20,027 votes.

In Kozhikode, Congress candidate, M K Raghavan is leading by 14,460 votes.

In all there will be 14 rounds of counting.
